SBI Clerk 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have a Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government. Candidates with an Integrated Dual Degree certificate must ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before 31 December 2026.
Final-year or final-semester graduation candidates may also apply provisionally. If provisionally selected, they must produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before 31 December 2026.
Age Limit
The age will be calculated as on 01 April 2026. The candidate must not be below 20 years and must not be above 28 years. Therefore, the candidate must have been born not earlier than 02 April 1998 and not later than 01 April 2006, both days inclusive.

Local Language Requirement
Candidates applying for a particular State/UT must be proficient in the specified local language of that State/UT, including reading, writing, speaking and understanding. The candidate has to opt for one language at the time of online application for the local language test.
Candidates who provide a 10th or 12th standard marksheet/certificate showing that they studied the specified local language will not be required to appear for the language test. Other provisionally selected candidates must qualify the specified local language test before joining.

SBI Clerk 2026 Selection Process
The official notification specifies three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and the specified Local Language Proficiency Test, wherever applicable.
Online objective examination of 100 marks and one-hour duration.
Online objective examination of 200 marks and 2 hours 40 minutes duration.
Applicable to provisionally selected candidates who have not studied the specified local language in Class 10 or 12.
Prelims marks are not added. The final merit is prepared using aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination, subject to applicable requirements.

SBI Clerk 2026 Salary and Pay Scale
The official notification specifies the Junior Associate pay scale as Rs.24,050–1,340/3–28,070–1,650/3–33,020–2,000/4–41,020–2,340/7–57,400–4,400/1–61,800–2,680/1–64,480.
The starting basic pay is Rs.26,730, consisting of Rs.24,050 plus two advance increments admissible to graduates. SBI states that the total starting emoluments of a clerical cadre employee posted in a metro such as Mumbai will be around Rs.46,000 per month, inclusive of DA, other allowances at the applicable rate and two additional increments for newly recruited graduate Junior Associates.
Allowances vary according to the place of posting. The notification also mentions benefits such as reimbursement of various perquisites, provident fund, pension under the New Pension Scheme, medical facilities and leave-fare benefits as applicable under Bank instructions.

Documents and Upload Requirements
A scanned digital photograph in the format and specifications prescribed by SBI.
A clear scanned signature as specified in the official application instructions.
A scanned left-hand thumb impression. Candidates without a left thumb may use the right thumb.
The handwritten declaration prescribed by SBI must be scanned and uploaded in the required format.
SBI states that the online application will not be registered unless the photograph, signature, thumb impression and handwritten declaration are uploaded as specified. If any of these are unclear, the application may be rejected.
Important Points Before Applying
A candidate can apply for vacancies in only one State/UT.
More than one application should not be submitted. In case of multiple applications, only the last valid completed application will be retained.
The candidate must meet the specified local-language requirement of the State/UT applied for.
The 1,538 vacancies are specifically for SC/ST/OBC backlog vacancies under this special recruitment drive.
